Three-dimensional preferred orientation in uniaxially oriented polymer films

Polymer films such as polypropylene and polyethylene are drawn in molding while heating to increase physical strength. Since the crystal components in the film are oriented in a specific direction as the film is drawn, it is difficult to obtain sufficient information only by reflection method like a powder diffraction. It is efficient to perform omnidirectional measurement by transmission method using single crystal X-ray diffractometers to analyse in three dimensions which types of orientations exist in the whole sample.
