Capturing the structure of mixed valence states

Capability of condensation through hydrogen bonds were introduced to redox-active double-decker platinum complexes. As a result, mixed valence states, that is mixture of di- and tri-valent states, apppeard due to intra- and intermolecular Pt⋯Pt interactions. The color of the solution can precisely be controlled from orange, blue, pink and yellow while luminescense is simultaneously turned on and off by redox.
