■Seminar Description:
This seminar is intended for international researchers and students who wish to acquire an understanding of crystallography, principles of X-ray diffraction, and experimental techniques on powder diffraction. Attendees outside of Univ. of Tokyo and industries are also welcomed.

In the lecture part, property of material is strongly related to its crystal structure. X-ray diffraction is one of powerful methods to determine the crystal structure. In the course, fundamental of powder X-ray diffraction will be introduced in relation to crystal structure. In the laboratory training part, they will learn how to conduct practical powder diffraction experiment. Detailed instruction on sample preparation, data collection and data analysis will be provided.

The lecture will be limited to 50 participants.
The laboratory training will be limited to 12 participants.
